OnePlus 6

It’s finally live. The OnePlus 6 flagship device has been launched in China and India, a day after the launch in London. Along with the regular variant, the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition has also been launched.

In India, the main launch event was in Mumbai and was witnessed by some big Bollywood celebrities including Mr. Amitabh Bachchan who is also the Brand Ambassador of OnePlus in India. The company also organised pop up events across the country.

It was confirmed by the company couple of weeks ago that it is partnering with Marvel Studios to bring this limited edition smartphone. Right now this limited edition OnePlus 6 will be available only in China and India.

However, this time unlike previous limited edition models of OnePlus, there is a significant difference between the price of regular variant and the limited edition.

The company has also confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will be open to the Android P Beta program soon after the launch.

Specifications of OnePlus 6

Currently, the OnePlus 6 runs OxygenOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, however as mentioned earlier it is ready for the Android P Beta build which will be available in the “next couple of days and can be downloaded from the company’s site.

There is a 6.28-inch full-HD+ Full Optic AMOLED display with 1080×2280 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The flagship smartphone is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with a maximum clock speed up to 2.8GHz and an Adreno 630 GPU.

The handset is available in either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and in three storage variants – 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Unfortunately, there is no option to expand the storage via microSD card which might disappoint some users.

On the photography front, the OnePlus 6 sports a dual camera setup at the rear in a vertical module with a combination of 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 primary sensor and a 20-megapixel Sony IM376K secondary sensor. The camera is equipped with a dual-LED flash module, OIS, and EIS.

Camera modes will be available in the handset include Smart Capture mode, HDR and Portrait Mode make their return as well.

With a 16-megapixel front camera with a Sony IMX371 sensor, you can click some awesome selfies to impress your friends and families. It is capable to record slow motion videos, capturing 480 frames per second at 720p for up to a minute.

The front camera also features the Face Unlock security that unlocks the smartphone in as little as 0.4 seconds. Besides face recognition, the smartphone also has a fingerprint scanner located at the rear below the camera module.

The handset is backed by a 3300mAh battery equipped with the OnePlus’s own Dash Charge (5V 4A) fast charging technology which is claimed to deliver a “day’s power in half an hour”.

Price and Availability of OnePlus 6

The OnPlus 6 will be available in Mirror Black, Midnight Black and Silk White colour options starting at ₹34,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB Storage variant and go up to ₹39,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage model.

It’ll be exclusively available online via Amazon India in an Early Access sale for Amazon Prime members on May 21, and will be made available in an open sale from May 22nd.
