Android P on OnePlus 6

OnePlus has announced the release of Android P Beta 2 for the OnePlus 6 smartphone. However, updating the update on the OnePlus 6 is somewhat complicated so it’s not recommended for lay users or who want stability in performance.

The new Android P Beta DP2 fixes the FaceUnlock issue on OnePlus 6, brings Google Lens integration, fixes camera stability issue and also fixes compatibility issues for apps.

Install Android P Update on OnePlus 6

As mentioned above, installing Android P beta is a complicated process and is best suited for developers and early adopters.

Caution: You should understand the risk of BRICKING your phone, read the instructions carefully and be 100% sure of what you are doing, and please always backup your important data before flashing. You MUST have a PC with ADB tools to go back to MP Oreo version. We are not responsible if you damage your device while performing the update. So proceed at your own risk!

I.Instruction of upgrading from Stable official version to Developer Preview version – Local Upgrade

Upgrading process:
Please note: This upgrade will clear all contents of the phone, please make sure to back up.

1. Download the latest ROM upgrade package from the above link.
2. Copy ROM upgrade package to mobile phone storage.
3. Settings -> system updates -> top right corner icon -> local upgrade -> click on the installation package -> immediately upgrade -> system upgrade to 100%.
4. Press the power button and choose to shut down.
5. Press the power button + volume down to enter recovery mode.
6. Select Wipe data/factory reset, click power, select yes, confirm.
7. Select Reboot system now.
8. Update successfully.

II. Instructions of roll back from Developer Preview version to Stable official version – Local Rollback

Rollback process:
Please note: This upgrade will clear all contents of the phone, please make sure to back up.

1. Settings – System – About phone –Advance – scroll to the bottom and tap Build number 5 times.
2. Settings – System – Developer options – Open “OEM unlocking”.
3. Download the ROM rollback package [HERE]
4. Copy ROM rollback package to mobile phone storage root directory.
5. Settings -> system updates -> top right corner icon -> local upgrade -> click on the installation package -> immediately upgrade -> system upgrade to 100%.
6. Select Reboot system now.
7. Update successfully.
