Over the past few weeks, Google released a couple of major updates to its Gmail for web version and now Gmail for Android has got updated with an overdue ability to customize the Right and Left swipe action.
The latest update to the Gmail for Android (version 8.5.20) now provides its users six different options to change or customize the right and left swipe actions or you can even select ‘None’ for no action. The update was much needed as many of us were waiting for this many years.
Now with the new swipe actions included in the Gmail app for Android, users now have more options to choose other than the ‘Archive’ for what happens when they swipe an email right to left on their Android phone.
With the latest version of Gmail users can now customize or change the left and right swipe actions with using any of the newly added options:
- Mark as read/unread
- Move to
If you decide not to take any of the of actions while swiping an email right to left on your Gmail app listed above then you can simply choose the option ‘None’ to deactivate the functionality completely.
The new Gmail for Android update now widely available and if you haven’t yet updated to the latest version of the Gmail then you manually do it by updating it from the Play store itself.
