Android Pie on Xperia Phones

Sony has officially announced the Android 9.0 Pie update for its premium handsets including the Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact starting this November.

Owners of Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and XA2 Plus will be able to access the Android Pie on their devices in early 2019.

Earlier this month, Google officially announced the Android 9.0 Pie and soon after the announcement some of the devices started to receive the update which includes Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3/Pixel 3 XL and the Essential Phone.

A couple of days back, we shared the news about the Android Pie roadmap for the Xperia devices but it was taken from a Chinese online publication not officially verified. However, this time it has been confirmed.

“We always aim for the quickest possible upgrade rollout from the time Google makes its announcement to when it reaches your smartphone. And it’s essential that Sony engineers have the time to implement all our feature upgrades and test devices to meet our high-quality standards,” Sony posted on the official blog.
