Ahead of the IFA 2018 event, HTC has unveiled a premium new mid-range smartphone the HTC U12 Life. It’s a trimmed down version of HTC U12+ and the successor of HTC U11 Life.

No doubt, that mid-range mobile segment has captured the majority share of the smartphone market and keeping mind the competition HTC has packed the new HTC U12 Life with impressive hardware specs.

The highlight feature of the smartphone is its two-tone design at the back of the phone accompanied by a dual rear camera setup and a fingerprint scanner.

The company has decided to go traditional way by not adopting the notched display which we’ve seen recently in every other phone. The display has a 6-inch size and a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels with 18:9 aspect ratio.

The HTC U12 life runs Android 8.1 Oreo with HTC Sense skin on top and driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC paired with 4GB – DDR4x RAM. The internal storage is 64GB which supports further expansion via microSD (hybrid slot).

The smartphone is fueled with a 3600 mAh battery enabled with Power saving mode which should allow it to offer a good backup. Among other features which HTC decided to skip to keep the price reasonable is the Edge Sense squeeze feature.

As for connectivity options, the HTC U12 Life comes with 2G/2.5G, 3G UMTS, 4G LTE, NFC, BlueTooth 5, Wi-Fi, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), 3.5 mm stereo audio jack and a USB Type C.

The HTC U12 Life will be available in Moonlight Blue and Twilight Purple colour options. According to current news, it won’t be coming to the US. The company has not announced the pricing details of the HTC U 12 Life but in different markets, it’s expected to arrive around 329 to 349 €.
