A couple of days back Poco, which is a sub-brand of Xiaomi launched its first smartphone the Poco F1 in India which runs on MIUI 9.6 out-of-the-box based on Android 8.1 Oreo. However, this MIUi version is not the same as used on Xiaomi devices but is a customized version of MIUI, called MIUI for Poco.
Currently, the Poco Launcher is available to download via APK file, however, the company at the Poco F1 launch event noted that the Poco Launcher will be available on Google Play on August 29.
Availability on Google Play makes it clear that the Poco Launcher will not be exclusive to Pocophone F1 but will be available for any device.
Poco Launcher has an application drawer, unlike the MIUI interface. By holding down your finger on any application icon in the application window you can access by sliding the main screen up, you can access some shortcuts related to that application. With Poco Launcher, you can hide applications from the menu or browse the categories.
“The new app drawer facilitates better app searches. We’ve taken into consideration the thumb area & moved the search bar at the bottom allowing you for better app search. The Poco F1 launcher is a deeply customized launcher, highly optimized for a better experience. MIUI for POCO automatically groups apps according to different categories. We’ve taken care of users privacy & now you can hide icons to have better privacy controls. You can unlock them using a unique password,” MIUI Beta Team – Global said.
