Qualcomm’s First 7nm Snapdragon 855 Chipset Might Come With a New Name Soon

Snapdragon 855 Name

We have been hearing about Qualcomm’s first ever Snapdragon 855 (SDM855) 7nm FinFET high-end chipset being made by TSMC for quite some time now. The new SoC will be powering the high-end smartphones of the future. However, there were many misconceptions about whether the new chip from Qualcomm will be called Snapdragon 855 (SDM855) or something else.

Qualcomm’s First 7nm Snapdragon 855 Chipset Might Come With a New Name Soon

Now it is being expected that Qualcomm might come with a new name for its first 7nm Snapdragon Chipset soon which was previously being reported to be named as Snapdragon 855. A tweet from Roland Quandt, a reporter from WinFuture has confirmed this which says, ”

”Seems like Qualcomm has a new naming scheme coming. Snapdragon 855 is not what the final name will be – need to do more research on this, but I think they are switching the chip names to a different scheme to separate chips being destined for mobile from the ones for use in PCs.”

However, an earlier Winfuture report had confirmed that the Snapdragon 855 (SDM855) which was announced officially as Snapdragon X24 Modem will be Qualcomm’s new next high-end SoC and will be launched later this year.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 LTE modem was reported to be the world’s first modem manufactured in 7-nanometer scale to support the new LTE Cat.20 standard, delivering downstream rates of up to 2 gigabits /s.”
