Samsung today launched its first Android Go smartphone the Galaxy J2 Core in India. Alongside, the Galaxy J2 Core will also be available in Malaysia starting today on August 24. The device will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

Galaxy J2 Core is an entry-level Android Go smartphone which comes with a stripped-down version of the OS with lighter versions of Google apps and optimizations for lower-end devices.

However, you won’t get a full stock Android experience on it because the phone will be coming with a layer of Samsung UI on top.

As for the specs, the Galaxy J2 Core comes with a 5-inch quad-HD display with a resolution of 540 x 960. Additionally, the device also includes an Ultra Data Saving feature, which provides options and suggestions for efficient data use allowing users to stream and watch their favorite content online without worrying about exceeding their data limit.

On the camera front, the Galaxy J2 Core sports two cameras: 8MP camera with flash in the rear and 5MP camera in the front. Both cameras have an f 2.2 aperture for improved wide-angle photography, and features such as Beauty Mode are included for users to take better portraits and selfies.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 Core will be available in Malaysia and India as of now starting today on August 24th, the device will also be making its way to other markets in the near future. However, Samsung didn’t reveal its pricing as yet.
