Xiaomi could be the second company after Motorola to launch 5G compatible handset. Today the company successfully tested 5G data connections on the Xiaomi phone.
Xiaomi Global spokesperson, Director of Product Management Donovan Sung tweeted the news about the 5G connectivity and that it will be officially roll-out next year. See his tweet below.

He did not mention the name of the handset in the image, but we can clearly see that it’s the Mi Mix 3. Last time shared the handset image and this device looks much like that.
In the image, we can see the handset running the Chinese version of MIUI with testing equipment in the background and an indicator showing the phone is connected to a 5G+ network.
We know that last month, Motorola launched the Moto Z3 that comes with 5G Moto Mod in partnership with Verizon. Sony also working on 5G compatible Xperia XZ4 that is expected to be released in January 2019.
