Android 8.1 Oreo on Moto G5 and G5 Plus

Motorola has started releasing the Android 8.1 Oreo update to its Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones in the US region which brings important improvements and fixes.

The update is released Over the Air (OTA) so it might land on your device soon and once it reaches you’ll get a notification message for this update. You can proceed with the options to download and install the update.

Here is the changelog:

  • The update brings new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls, and improved data saver, battery features, new power menu UI and Bluetooth improvements.
  • It brings the June 1st, 2018 Android security patch.
  • As mentioned earlier, the update also includes changes that fix bugs and improve the stability of your phone.

If you’ve received the update notification then keep in mind that you must charge your phone at least up to 50%. The official Motorola support page does not mention the size of the update but it is advisable to use a Wi-Fi network while updating.

For the update, you will receive an update notification soon but you can also check manually by going to Settings > About phones > System updates > Download.
