Asus has started releasing the October 2018 Security update to its Zenfone Max Pro (M1) and Zenfone 5Z smartphones. Currently, the update has been released in phases for the India region so it may take a while to reach all eligible smartphones.
This new FOTA update on the Zenfone Max Pro 1 (M1) comes with firmware version OPM1.WW_Phone-15.2016.1810.334-20181019 while the Zenfone 5Z update has version WW_ZS620KL_126.96.36.199_20181018.
Besides the 2018 security patch, the update also brings improved power optimization (Better battery life), optimized waking system by double tapping / wiping up on screen and will also make the overall performance better.
The Asus Zenfone Max Pro (M1) was launched in October 2018 alongside ZenFone Lite (L1) in India. It comes with a 5.45-inch display offering a resolution of 1440×720 pixels and powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor.
There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage which is further expandable via microSD card up to 256GB. The rear camera 13-megapixel with f/2.0 and PDAF and the front camera is an 8-megapixel.
The smartphone packs a 4000 mAh battery. Both handsets came with Android Oreo out of the box.
