Samsung Reportedly Working on a Smartphone With Camera and Sensors Under the Display

We’ve already seen smartphones with “full-screen” display having no notch and bezels such as Oppo Find X, Vivo NEX, Mi MIX 3 and Lenovo Z5 Pro. Now Samsung is also working on a smartphone that’ll come with almost zero bezels.

LetsGoDigital reported that Samsung Electronics has submitted a patent at WIPO (World Intellectual Property) for an ‘Antenna device’ describing a full-screen smartphone with various sensors under the display.

Sensors like camera, biometric reader, antenna, microphone and receiver placed under the display an intention to create a device with an increase in overall dimensions and ditching the famous notch.

As you can see from the illustrations in the document, the sensors are positioned in holes in the back of the display, through the PCB (printed circuit board), but without any holes in the glass covering the panel.

The antenna is placed between the cover glass and the screen along with other sensors already discussed that are also placed under the display. We can also find the fingerprint sensor along with the front camera under the display.

It’s important to note that the patent filed does not mean the device will be created in the future, but we can’t ignore it too as it hints towards future trends of manufacturing, especially from Samsung.
