Highlights:

  • OnePlus will be among the first to release the 5G phone
  • OnePlus 7 could be the next phone
  • The company expected to showcase its 5G phone.

We already know that Oppo, Xiaomi, Samsung and other OEMs are prepping to unveil their 5G devices in 2019. Some of them will be showcased in February at the MWC 2019. OnePlus is also in the list having the 5G device in the pipeline and a new leak hints the same.

An image leaked by a tipster Ishan Agarwal on Twitter reveals a OnePlus device in the hands of OnePlus CEO Pete Lau. This seems to be a prototype of OnePlus’ upcoming 5G phone, which we can call it OnePlus 7, for now.

the image, however, doesn’t reveal a lot of details about the alleged OnePlus phone. Besides the CEO, there are other core team members and it looks as they are sitting in the R&D center. We can see the phone on the monitor, in the hands of Pete Lau and on the table.

The phone has a polished back panel with the rear camera has a circular module as seen in the Motorola phones, or it resembles the design of a Lumia camera.

What to Expect?

It’ll too early to say anything about this alleged phone prototype, but it is for sure that the company is working on a 5G smartphone. At the recently held Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech summit Pete Lau, CEO, and Founder of OnePlus made the announcement that they’ll the first to bring the 5G enabled phone.

At the summit, Qualcomm announced their flagship chipset Snapdragon 855 which supports 5G and most of the smartphones we will see in 2019 will be powered by this chipset.

So, we can expect the 5G OnePlus phone to see the light of the day soon.
