We’ve already seen smartphones having triple and quad cameras at the rear. Now Xiaomi might also bring smartphones with triple camera setup. As per the research note from GF Securities of Hong Kong, Xiaomi’s Mi 9 will be Xiaomi’s first product to feature tri-cams, while the Mi MiX 4 should feature a periscope camera.

Xiaomi has increased its adoption rate for advanced features such as dual-cams and OLED screens. Now with the advent of technology in smartphone cameras, it’s important for OEMs to upgrade the smartphone specs.

The GFS report also reveals that both smartphones might come with S8150, which is the Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset. This SoC also comes with 5G support, so both devices expected to support 5G.

Xiaomi has already conducted the 5G test on a special Mi Mix 3 unit. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor. It’s confirmed that we’ll be seeing a series of 5G compatible smartphones in 2019.

Xiaomi definitely will be looking to boost its sale via flagship Mi 9 as its 2018 flagship Mi 8 received an overwhelming response. According to Xiaomi, its flagship Mi 8 sold 6m units in
2018 and ranked #1 by volume among Rmb2,000-3,000 smartphones during Singles Day.
