Finally! Xiaomi has started releasing the MIUI 10 Global Stable update to its Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite smartphones. The update bumps up the MIUI version to 10.2.1.0. It’s worth noting that the update is based on Android 7.1 Nougat, so it won’t make any change in the Android OS version.
However, it is not going to satisfy many users because they also want Android Oreo update besides the MIUI 10. The Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite are the rebranded versions of Redmi Note 5A Prime and Redmi Note 5A respectively.
The Redmi Y1 was launched in India in November 2017 at a budget price of Rs. 8,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. It came with Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 skin on top. The highlight feature of the Redmi Y1 is the 16-megapixel front camera equipped with a LED selfie light.
The Redmi Y1 Lite, on the other hand, features a 5-megapixel selfie camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera. There is a 5.5-inch HD display and 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor. A 3080mAh battery fuels the handset.
