We all are excited and looking forward to February 20 because on this day not one but two major launch events are happening. Samsung will be bringing its Galaxy S10 series and Xiaomi will launch its flagship Mi 9 smartphone.
Earlier it was speculating that the handset will be powered by Snapdragon 855 processor which the latest SoC from Qualcomm. Now it is confirmed by Xiaomi Global spokesperson Donovan Sung that the Mi 9 will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.
Other OEMs such as LG, Samsung, Oppo, etc will also be using Snapdragon 855 in their high-end devices. It’s important to note that the Snapdragon 855 which features the Snapdragon X50 LTE modem support 5G connectivity.
But that’s not the case with Xiaomi Mi 9 because the 855 processor used in the handset equips the X24 LTE modem. It means the Mi9 won’t be able to offer 5G connectivity. Maybe we can see it in Mi 9 Explorer Edition.
It is being said that the Mi 9 will be beautiful than its predecessors. Wang Xiang, Senior VP at Xiaomi shared the official image (below) to give us a glimpse of what the device will look like. He said, “the company has used nano-level laser engraving holographic technology+dual layer nano-coating to create this beautiful and unique color.”
Now let’s wait for February 20 to get our hands on this beautiful device.
