Apple announced the new 10.5-inch iPad Air and 7.9-inch iPad Mini. As we have anticipated, the models bring little change from their predecessors. They both come with performance enhancements brought by the A12 Bionic platform. It brings an up to 70% improvement in the performance of the iPad Air compared to the standard 9.7-inch iPad.
Both tablets feature updated and brighter retina displays with True Tone and also support Apple Pencil. Both are unlocked via Touch ID. Apple says the screen improvement makes the new iPad mini have higher pixel density than any other model.
On connectivity, the two models have the same hardware, Wi-Fi and Gigabit-class LTE, in addition to eSIM support. Both are capable of recording 1080p videos and Lightning connection – the iPad Pro has USB-C output.
The company also said it will launch an iWord update for iOS next week, which brings better integration for the Apple Pencil.
