Nova Launcher has got a new version 6.1 on its beta channel with some interesting features. The first one aims to meet the lovers of the dark mood. That’s because app developers have added the dark mode to the Google Discover (previously known as “Google Now”).
As we know, since December last year, Google has been preparing to deliver this news with Android 10 Q. Therefore, users of the New Launcher can take advantage of the feature in advance.
If you’re using the beta and want to try it out, just go to Settings> Integrations> Google Discover> Theme. The page should display three options for themes: Light, Dark, and Follow Night Mode. However, you can only access having installed the New Google Companion APK with Android 8.0 or higher.
Another improvement introduced in version 6.1 of the Nova Launcher is a new approach to Android’s “notification points.” According to developers, users can now use this feature via numeric dots. With them, some restrictions were overturned.
Introduced in Android 8.0 Oreo, notification points appear on the application icon, and by pressing it, you can interact with content. However, upon seeing the notification, the point ends up disappearing. Many times this prevents the user from knowing that there are still unread conversations.
New Launcher solves this problem by adding numeric points with Nova Prime. This is because the numbers show unread messages, and the feature also eliminates the use of the TeslaUnread companion application. For now, all the news is only available in the beta channel.
