Since 2017, when Asus launched the ZenPad 3S, the company seems to be officially abandoning this market, and this information is now confirmed. The statement is related to a notification sent to business partners of the company.

The main reason for abandoning the market is constant denial in the consumption of tablets. The tablet market is practically centralized in the hands of Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Huawei.

Asus will continue to focus on the ROG e-sports market and the existing ZenFone series. Including the second generation of the ROG Phone and the upcoming ZenFone 6 flagship phone in mid-May.

The negative impact which can be considered is the evolution of smartphones that provide ever larger screens in more compact bodies. Recent examples being the Oukitel K9 and Huawei Honor 8X Max, which provide a 7.12-inch display.

As a result, the company is expected to dedicate itself exclusively to the markets considered profitable, with a focus on Zenfone and ROG smartphones, as well as hardware and Notebooks.

This obviously does not exclude the possibility that at some point in the future, the brand chooses to go back to the tablet market and develop new devices by retaking the ZenPad line or by creating a new brand for them.
