Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018)

It’s always welcome news of a software update and it’s become more joyful when the update arrives on the mid-range or budget device. Samsung starts releasing the Android 9.0 Pie update to the Galaxy J8 smartphone which also brings the One UI interface.

The One UI is Samsung’s latest custom skin for Android which replaces the TouchWiz UI. Right now, the update is rolling out in Russia, but other markets are also expected to get it in the coming days.

Galaxy J8 Android Pie update in India is not reported yet. Galaxy J8 users in Russia will get the update with firmware version J810FPUU3BSD1 and April security update.

The Samsung Galaxy J8 was launched in India last year as a budget device starting at Rs 18,990. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and 6-inch HD+ AMOLED display. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 256 GB).

At the rear, you get a dual camera setup with 16MP + 5MP sensors while the front has a 16MP front selfie sensor with LED flash. A 3500 mAh battery fuels the device.

SamMobile reports that the update is rolling out via OTA (over the air) so it might take some time to reach all handsets. If you don’t want to wait then you can also download the update from SamMobile’s firmware database.
