Google Confirms the Controversial Square Design for the Pixel 4 Rear Camera Module

Google Pixel 4

In recent weeks there have been some leaks suggesting that Google could use a square camera design in the new Pixel 4 series with triple cameras. At first, they were just rumors since the search giant commonly inserts only one lens into the products.

However, even a metal model would have come to rest in the hands of a YouTuber, and well, the company just confirmed that design for the lenses. Taking everyone by surprise Google used Twitter to give a glimpse of what is to come. The company still provokes the phrase “wait and see what it can do for you”. Check out the tweet:

Not only Google, but we’ve also seen renders of the iPhone XR (2019) which also reveals the square camera design but with two sensors. So, both Google and Apple should bet on the design that for some is controversial.

Since the beginning of 2019, this design of optical sensors has been suggested for iOS mobile phones, but Apple should not open the game until the official formalization.

Huawei was the first to introduce the square camera module housing the three sensors in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro which was launched in 2018.
