The Microsoft team updated the system requirements for its Office applications dedicated to mobile devices and seems to have decided to “cut” Android users with older smartphones.
Although this news does not represent a real surprise, many Android users will probably be affected by these changes. Several applications of the Office suite for Android will stop working on devices that are still based on Android KitKat and Lollipop versions starting from July 2019.
According to what Microsoft has announced, in fact, support for these versions of Google’s operating system will be guaranteed until the end of June. Starting on July 1, 2019, support will be limited to the last 4 major versions of Android which are:
- Android Marshmallow (version 6.0)
- Nougat (version 7.0)
- Oreo (version 8.0)
- Pie (version 9.0)
- And Android Q (version 10.0), which will launch later this year
Therefore, those with older Android devices and the need to continue using the Office suite applications must, therefore, organize themselves because in a few weeks they will no longer be able to do so.
