China’s SIAC-owned British Morris Garages a.k.a. MG Motor has entered the Indian market today with the launch of mid-size SUV MG Hector in India. It’s the first internet-connected SUV of its segment. The company is seeing Tata Harrier as a main competitor for its Hector SUV, therefore, Hector is cheaper than Harrier.
As the launch offer, the company is offering an unlimited Kilometer Warranty of up to five years on Hector. Right now, the company has launched its 5-seater model. The company will launch its 7-seater version until the BS-VI (BS-6) norms are implemented in 2020.
The 5-seater MG Hector is available in 4 variants – Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp. The base variant is Style, while the Sharp is the top variant. Talking about the design, the front has a Black Grill with sleek Chrome surroundings, which make it look fabulous.
Hector’s headlamps are engaged in the bumper and Daytime Running Lights (DRL) are given right above. The SUV from the side looks quite heavy. From the rear side, it looks quite curve and makes a great windscreen rear look perfect.
In terms of power, the Hector has a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, which generates 143 horsepower and 250Nm torque. The diesel engine is 2.0-liter, which generates 170 horsepower and 350Nm torque. Both engines have 6-speed gearboxes and Turbo petrol engine will also have an option of a 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
Apart from this, there is also a 48V Mild-Hybrid petrol model available in which only 6-speed manual gearboxes are given.
MG Hector Price and Availability in India
MG Hector’s base price in India starts at Rs. 12.18 lakhs, while its top variant costs Rs 16.88 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). MG has already started accepting bookings for the MG Hector in India.
