Android Pie update on Asus

A series of Asus Zenfone 5 lineup of smartphones are getting the Android 9.0 Pie update globally. The phones getting the update includes Asus Zenfone 5Q, Zenfone 5 Lite, and Zenfone 5 Selfie Pro. In November last year, we covered the news that the ZenFone 5 Series (ZenFone 5, ZenFone 5Z and ZenFone 5 Lite/5Q/5 Selfie) will get the Android Pie update in January 2019.

But, till now only the Zenfone 5 and 5Z has received the Pie update and for other phones was been delayed due to some reasons. But now it’s time for some joy because the Android Pie brings some new features such as Gesture Navigation, Slices, Improved Security Features, Adaptive Battery & Brightness and more.

The Asus Zenfone 5 Selfie Pro was launched with Android 7.1 Nougat and features, in particular, the 6-inch display, Snapdragon 630 chipset, 128 GB of internal storage and the dual front camera of 20 MP (f/2.0) + 8 MP (wide-angle).

The new update is rolling out via firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) and comes with software version 16.0610.1905.79. Not all users of the above-mentioned phones will get the update right now, they may get the update in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, you can check for the updates manually by going to Settings > System > System updates.
