It was recently confirmed that DTS X would be coming soon for Windows 10 and Xbox One to compete directly with Dolby Atmos for immersive sound delivery on both platforms. Now the new system can be officially downloaded and installed by users running Windows 10 Insider to allow it to be tested before it becomes available to regular users.

Availability confirmation was made by Microsoft Audio Manager Steven Wilssens himself through his official Twitter account, making it clear that the app is available to anyone who has a Windows Insider distribution installed and is not at least apparently tied to it.

Check out his tweet below:

Also according to a representative of DTS Inc, the news is being planned for availability soon, starting with Insider users and later to the general public.

“To provide some context, we have been working closely with Microsoft for the past year to make the most of their Spatial sound framework. There are one or two changes that they’re making to the OS to make our product better. These are currently being tested in Insider, and once the Microsoft changes are published, we’ll go to the public release.”

So if you are within one of the Windows 10 Insider distributions, you can download the app from the Windows Store.
