Sony Smart TVs That Are Receiving Android 9 Pie

Today Sony announces that it is finally started to release the Android 9 Pie update for some of its smart TVs based on Android. Here are the Sony smart TV models that are receiving the new version of Android TV:

  • AF9 and ZF9 series of 2018;
  • series  AG9ZG9XG85 / XG87XG95  of 2019

The new features in the firmware version 6.3598 includes full support for Apple’s AirPlay 2, integrated support for Dolby Atmos via the integrated speakers of smart TVs, a new settings menu, a smoother transition when switching from list of channels on the TV guide, the new restart menu, support for the HEVC 100/120 Hz format for content playback via USB, the new LED lighting to indicate the detection of the phrase “OK, Google” via the remote control, a new set of icons on the home screen and much more.

The update in question is rolling out for all the models listed above. Do not worry if it is not yet present in the appropriate settings panel, it will certainly arrive in the next few hours/days.
