It is almost certain that Google will launch Pixel 4a, its new mid-range handset very soon. Several leaks have already shown the appearance and even some of the specifications of the device that should reach the market by the end of this year.

What nobody expected is that the search engine giant is also preparing a cheap 5G version of the device. The phone was first discovered during code analysis of the Google search application, which not only confirmed the existence of Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 but also Pixel 4a (5G).

Now, listings issued by the American operator Boom Mobile with devices compatible with its 5G network indicate support for a device not yet announced by Google. It’s worth noting that the company had launched the Pixel 4 and 4 XL along with Nest Mini, and Pixelbook Go last year.

What reinforces the fact that it is a 5G variant of the Pixel 4a is has model number G025E. In comparison, the standard smartphone had been certified by the FCC with numbers G025J, G025N, and G025M. Therefore, we can expect widely similar hardware between the models, with only a few differences, such as a larger screen and battery, in addition to adding support for the new network protocol.

Another interesting aspect is related to its processor, which must be the Snapdragon 765, which also said to be presented in Pixel 5. We can only wait to know how the company will deal with the possible similarity between the three devices, without one hindering the sales of the other.
