DJI Osmo Action 3 Action Camera Announced

DJI has just released what appears to be a direct response to the GoPro Hero 11 Black. It is the DJI Osmo Action 3, the new generation of its action camera with advanced specifications and competitive price to compete with its North American rival. The action should soon arrive in India.

Succeeding the DJI Action 2, the new camera replaces its modular construction to focus on strength and durability. The entire device — including its battery — is capable of operating in temperatures ranging from -20° to 45°C, eliminating the need to purchase accessories separately for ice adventures.

DJI Osmo Action 3 Features

Speaking of its main function, Osmo Action 3 does not change the 1/1.7” sensor with 12 MP resolution and ultrawide lens with 155º viewing angle and f/2.8 aperture. The hardware is capable of recording videos at up to 4K@120 FPS at 16:9 or 60 FPS at 4:3. For more fluid “slow motion” captures, there’s a 1080p @ 240 FPS mode.

There are different modes for slow motion, and among the different functions of the lens. It is possible to capture time lapses with Hyperlapse in up to 4K. A video with no residual motion, even at maximum quality.

HorizonSteady enables the horizon leveling effect for 360º lens rotations capped at 2.7K @ 60 FPS. In the same direction, HorizonBalancing allows lens rotation in 4K @ 60 FPS, but with a rotation limit of 45º.

The camera has clips that allow it to be installed on a stand in both horizontal and vertical orientations. So videos can be displayed on a TV (landscape) or shared on Instagram Reels (portrait), for example. The handles guarantee impact resistance, according to the manufacturer.

Another evolution of the device is its 1.4-inch front screen, which is now touch-sensitive and allows several quick and intuitive settings. At the rear, there is a large 2.25-inch viewfinder for the best real-time view of the capture.
