Fossil Gen 6 Announced With Snapdragon Wear 4100+

Fossil has finally made official its new smartwatch, the Fossil Gen 6. It’s the first smartwatch to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chip which was announced in June 2020. The watch comes with advanced fitness monitoring and battery life that can last several days away from it.

Fossil Gen 6 Features

Speaking of battery first, which is a key factor in a smartwatch, Fossil claims the Gen 6 can stay off the plug for up to 24 hours on a full charge and go from 0 to 80% with just 30 minutes of charging. However, Fossil still included Smart Battery modes, which make the charge last for several days in Extended Battery Mode.

Speaking now of the Snapdragon 4100 Plus, it arrives with improvements in performance and energy efficiency over the Wear 3100, but still lags behind the Exynos W920, which is present in the Galaxy Watch 4 from Samsung.

The Gen 6 watch will be sold in two sizes: 42mm and 44mm with a circular AMOLED screen that is 1.28 inches with 326ppi in both models.

In terms of activity tracking, there is an SpO2 sensor for analysis of blood oxygen saturation, heart rate monitor, and step counter, so it is compatible with continuous analysis of sleep and exercise.

Pricing and Availability

The pre-order price of Fossil Gen 6 is $299. Right now, there is no information on the global availability of this new smartwach.
