Redmi 9 Starts Receiving MIUI 13 Update Based on Android 12

Xiaomi started this week by releasing an OS update for the Redmi 9 model with the MIUI 13 user interface based on Android 12. The manufacturer had already announced that the update would arrive in the second half of the year.

According to information from Xiaomiui website, the update with MIUI 13 for Redmi 9 is 3.7GB in size and has build number V13.0.5.0.SJCCNXM. The update also includes the September 2022 security patch for the system.

This should be the last major update released for the device, which may upset some users. However, each device has a certain period of use and when that period expires, official support ends.

At this first moment, the update is being made available only to the owners of the model in China, but the expectation is that the other countries where the smartphone is also sold will receive the new version in the coming weeks.

The update adds several design and style changes coming with Android 12, as well as stability fixes and optimizations after several tests carried out with the Chinese brand’s user interface in recent weeks.

It is possible to download the update for Redmi 9 through the MIUI Downloader app, available on the Play Store, or check the availability manually by going to the device settings and looking for system updates.
