ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Announced With Front Camera Under the Display

The Chinese manufacturer ZTE has announced its top-of-the-range ZTE Axon 40 Ultra smartphone. It comes with a front camera below the display, further optimized than the one introduced on last year’s ZTE Axon 30 5G. To complete the package, we find very respectable hardware equipment, starting from the SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 by Qualcomm.

The company also announced the ZTE Axon 40 Pro, a high-end Android smartphone that, however, draws much less of the spotlight on itself.

ZTE wants to confirm itself as a pioneer in terms of cameras under the display and equips the brand new ZTE Axon 40 Ultra with the new generation of this type of front camera. This, combined with the excellent 6.8-inch AMOLED display, equipped with a particular resolution of 1116 x 2480 pixels and with a refresh rate at 144 Hz, curved at the edges, undoubtedly gives a “full-screen” appearance to the smartphone (the display, in fact, it occupies over 93% of the front of the device).

To optimize the shots of the 16-megapixel front camera, there is the Selfie 3.0 algorithm which, through artificial intelligence, manages to reduce noise and allows you to focus images under different lighting conditions.

ZTE Axon 40 Ultra also wants to surprise you with its triple set of rear cameras, housed within a rectangular plate. There are three 64-megapixel sensors, all three very useful. The main camera and for the ultra-wide angle, the new Axon 40 Ultra has brought Sony’s IMX787 sensor to its debut; the third sensor is an OmniVision OV64B, used as a periscopic telephoto lens capable of providing a 5.7x optical zoom. Of the three sensors, the main and telephoto lenses are optically stabilized.
