CES 2021 kicked off and we’re seeing really good tech products from several companies. Huami is also among the participants and has announced two new smartwatches of the Amazfit family, Amazfit GTS 2e and GTR 2e. Due to the Covid pandemic, the event is being held in an entirely digital form.
The two smartwatches are official, ready to compete with an increasingly numerous smartwatch industry. Both models take up the design of the older brothers, presented in the autumn of last year, losing some technical characteristics due to the “Essential” vocation.
Together with the two smartwatches, numerous other products announced in recent months have also been re-proposed, starting with Amazfit GTS 2 Mini finally on sale. Here are the technical details of the two new smartwatches.
Amazfit GTS 2e Technical Characteristics
Unlike its predecessor, which can count on a 3D curved glass, Amazfit GTS 2e has a 2.5D glass for the protection of the AMOLED display. It has a diagonal of 1.65 inches with a resolution of 348 x 442 pixels, the same data as Amazfit GTS 2.
We find the aluminum case, with a single button on the right side, with dimensions of 42.8 x 35.6 x 9.8 mm and 25 grams of weight (without strap), basically the same as the older brother. The battery is also identical, which with its 246 mAh can guarantee 7 days of autonomy with very intense use, 14 days with typical use, and 24 days with basic use, therefore better than the normal version.
As for connectivity, we have only Bluetooth 5.0, with the absence of WiFi connectivity. The speaker is also missing since the smartwatch does not allow you to make calls via the smartphone connected via Bluetooth.
For the rest, we find the classic range of sensors, starting with the BioTracker PPG developed by Huami for measuring vital metrics, such as heart rate and blood oxygenation, fitness tracking functions (sleep, steps, calories), Always On Display with over 30 dials to choose from, linear vibration motor and microphone for using Amazon Alexa.
Amazefit GTR 2e Technical characteristics
Even the differences between Amazfit GTR 2e and Amazfit GTR 2 are minimal starting from the dimensions (46.5 x 46.5 x 10.8 mm and 32 grams of weight). We find the 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels and 2.5 D glass, with the 471 mAh battery which also in this case offers greater autonomy.
They range from 12 days with intense use to 45 days with minimal use, passing through 24 days of typical use. Connectivity is limited to Bluetooth 5.0, the 22 mm strap is only available in silicone, the speaker is missing (so no Bluetooth calls) but there is the temperature sensor.
For the rest, there is the heart rate sensor, with Blood-oxygen saturation measurement, fitness tracker, GPS, detection of 90 sports activities, microphone for interacting with Alexa, and linear vibration motor. Three colors are available: Obsidian Black, Matcha Green, and Slate Gray.
Pricing and Availability
The Amazfit GTS 2e is available at a price tag of €129.90 (around INR 11,580) and the Amazfit GTR 2e also costs the same.
