HMD Global Launches the Nokia 8 Sirocco in India, Equipped With Wireless Charging

Finally, Nokia 8 Sirocco smartphone has been launched in India. Nokia’s junkies will be able to buy this phone for Rs 49,999. This is a major upgrade of last year’s flagship device Nokia 8. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch POLED display, wireless charging and dual rear camera setup.

The smartphone owns a completely new design. It comes with a curved glass design. HMD Global has used stainless steel frame in the handset, which it claims that it is 2.5x stronger than the 6000-series aluminium used in Nokia 8. Its thickness is 7.5 millimetres and the bezels are extremely thin on the front panel. Nokia 8 Sirocco is also part of the Android One program.

Nokia 8 Sirocco Availability and Launch Offer

Nokia 8 Sirocco handset will be available exclusively on e-commerce site Flipkart. Pre-booking of the handset will begin on April 20 and sales will start from April 30. It will be available in black colour. Cashback is also expected in the launch offer, but it has not yet been disclosed. In addition to Flipkart, this handset will also be available in the Nokia mobile shop and select offline stores.

Nokia 8 Sirocco Specifications

Nokia 8 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and as mentioned earlier it has a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) POLED display. In order to protect the display, it has 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is equipped with 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor which is paired with 6GB LPDDR 4X RAM. The dual camera setup at the rear houses a 12-megapixel sensor, which is equipped with F/1.75 aperture and a 13-megapixel telephoto lens, which is equipped with 2x optical zoom. It includes the F/2.6 aperture feature.

At the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera, which has Fixed Focus Lens and is equipped with F/2.0 aperture. The rear camera features dual-tone LED flash and Zeiss optics.

One the storage front, the Nokia 8 Sirocco has 128GB of inbuilt storage, but unfortunately, there is no option to increase through MicroSD card. The connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, Bluetooth V5.0, GPS/A-GPS and NFC. Accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, fingerprint sensor, gyroscope and proximity sensor are part of this phone. The dimensions of the handset are 140.93×72.97×7.5 millimetres. The battery is of 3,260 mAh. It has been talk time of up to 22 hours and up to 495 hours of standby time.

Remember, that in February HMD Global launched its first Android Go smartphone, the Nokia 1 which is a mid-range smartphone.
