Netflix for Android Soon to Get Timer Feature to Stop Streaming

Netflix for Android may get a new feature. A timer function that allows you to preset the stopping of streaming when a certain time limit is reached. The popular streaming service is testing this new feature in the application for Android devices.

Today, in particular, a test has started on a global scale, therefore some lucky users of the Netflix app for Android already have the possibility to verify firsthand the actual convenience or otherwise of this new function.

Timer Function in Netflix for Android

The Netflix app allows you to choose between four timers: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, until the end of the content being played. Upon reaching the user preset time limit, the app will close automatically.

The use of the timer is very simple:

  1. Choose a content to see and start playing it.
  2. Click on the clock icon labeled Timer at the top right.
  3. Select the desired timer from those available.

In theory, this function, which is obviously not revolutionary, should help users save their phone battery and avoid unwanted auto-play of subsequent episodes. The Netflix timer could be especially useful for users who usually fall asleep while watching movies and/or TV series.

Although this first test phase is limited to the Android application only and only to adult profiles (but the function would be perfect for children). Netflix will use the feedback collected to evaluate the possibility of implementing the feature also on TV boxes and versions of a desktop.
