Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 SoC Announced

Qualcomm announced its new mobile platform for mid-range phones, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 678. Focused on offering immersive experiences to users, the new chipset promises to deliver improvements in performance and high-speed connections.

Main Features

The new 678 chipset offers the following performance enhancements over Snapdragon 675:

  • Qualcomm Kryo 460 CPU core clock speed up to 2.2GHz
  • Qualcomm Adreno 612 GPU performance increase

Both above arrive compatible with faster graphics rendering, realistic visualization in a high amount of frames per second without loss. And the possibility of customization of the gaming experience – through optimizations for Unity, Messiah, NeoX, and Unreal Engine 4.

In connectivity, the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem supports 4K. Download speeds of up to 600 Mbps and uploads of up to 150 Mbps. Qualcomm still promises speed for streaming video, downloading music, and browsing even in congested areas.

To complete the Qualcomm Spectra 250L ISP delivers the possibility of a triple set of cameras with up to 48 MP and without lag. Meanwhile, the third generation of the Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine enables the intelligent use of portrait mode, low-light capture, and laser autofocus. 4K footage, slow motion, 5x zoom and dual camera bokeh up to 16 MP are supported here
