Samsung Brings GameDriver App for GPU Enhancement

Today, Samsung is the newest company to follow the footsteps of its competitors with the launch of the GameDriver app. This new app is responsible for updating the Samsung smartphone driver. According to its statement, the manufacturer developed the application in collaboration with Google and the main GPU companies in the mobile market, including Qualcomm and ARM.

In its new venture, the company already has 50 partners, including Unity, Chucklefish, and Crytek. At launch, Samsung GameDriver – Mali (S20/N20) already brings optimizations for Call of Duty: Mobile, Black Desert, and Fortnite. The company will bring more games in the coming months. At the moment, only the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 lines are compatible with the GameDriver app, but Samsung has already guaranteed that it will expand the list of devices in the future.

To allow a system to communicate with a video card, drivers are needed. These drivers always need to be updated, either to optimize performance or even to correct flaws. As we usually report, AMD and Nvidia always update driver updates periodically.

Interestingly, with the increase in the firepower of smartphones, the idea of updating GPU drivers for smartphones came up. With the same goal of improving the performance of the device in several games. This feature debuted with the arrival of the Snapdragon 865 in December last year. Then, in April of this year, Xiaomi was the first to adopt the driver update through the Play Store, followed by OPPO.

The app is available on the Play Store.
