Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Special Edition

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has now joined Samsung, Essential and other players in the industry with the launch of the bezel-less smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. Similar to the infinity display on the Galaxy Note 8 and Essential Phone‘s full display, the Mi MIX 2 also comes with almost zero bezel display.

This bold step, we are saying the launch as a bold step because it’s happened just before the Apple’s big iPhone announcement. But it’s also true that Xiaomi would not hurt Apple much. Now let’s talk about the Xiaomi MIX 2 Special Edition, keeping aside the smartphone war.

What makes the Xiaomi MIX 2 Special Edition so special?

There are not one, but many reasons that’ll make the Mi MIX 2 steal the show from the display to design and pretty crazy specs. The highlight of the smartphone is its nearly bezel-less display. as compared to its predecessor, the company has narrowed the bezel on top and on the sides.

The size of the display is 5.99-inches translating to a pixel density of 403 PPI and a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2160 pixels.

Now coming to the design which is also the highlight of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Special Edition. Unlike the original Mi Mix, which had a separate frame and back plate, the Mi MIX 2 Special Edition comes with a stunning ceramic unibody. According to the company, “it takes 7 days to polish and requires the use of diamond powder because ceramic is incredibly hard.”

Other Specifications of Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Special Edition

The handset is driven by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 8GB of RAM. The internal storage is not expandable via microSD card, but we think the 128GB of internal storage would be enough to carry even large media files.

The main camera comes with a 12-megapixel sensor, while the front selfie shooter is a 5-megapixel sensor. The dual SIM (GSM and GSM) running smartphone packs a 3400mAh non-removable battery and connectivity options like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G, and 4G.

On the launch event in China, Lei Jun, founder, and CEO of Xiaomi said:

Mi MIX gave everyone a glimpse of what the phone of the future would look like. We made a concept phone that defied everyone’s expectations about smartphone design, and it has pioneered the trend of full-screen display smartphones. With Mi MIX 2, the future is now here. It has evolved from a design and technology test-bed into a user-friendly phone catered to a wider consumer group than ever before, while still evoking the wow factor.
