HMD Global CEO Arto Nummela Resigns

This is not a good news for Nokia lovers as Arto Nummela who is the CEO of HMD Global steps down from the position. His exit from the company is a bit of a shocker for the corporate industry and comes in the time when people are for its premium flagship device, the Nokia 8.

Nummela joined HMD Global last year and it’s also worth noting that the last year was also the year when HMD Global acquired rights to use Nokia’s brand for mobile phones and tablets. Now the company seems to be aggressively moving to capture the Android market by launching budget and high-end phones.

Last month, it launched three new phone namely, the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6, which budget and mid-range handsets. And now the launch of the premium Nokia 8 is around the corner.
Speaking on the development, Sam Chin, Chairman of the Board, HMD Global Oy said: “Arto Nummela has played a key role in the creation of the HMD Global operation, building the team and launching our first products. On behalf of the whole Board, I thank Arto for his contribution and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
There is no reason stated regarding the resignation but said the decision was a mutual agreement between Chief Executive Officer Arto Nummela and the HMD Global Board of Directors.
