The new update is the ninth build of the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and comes with fixes and new features like improvements in Edge, Console, input, and Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG).
The Eye Control feature makes easy for people with disabilities to operate an on-screen mouse, keyboard, and text-to-speech options using only their eyes in the new Windows 10. For now, you can experience the Eye Control by using the Tobii Eye Tracker 4C, but later support for Tobii Dynavox PCEye Mini, PCEyePlus, EyeMobile Plus, and I-series will also be added.
Microsoft said that they are starting with EN-US keyboard layout, but will expand to more keyboard layouts in the future.
How to Set Up Eye Control
In order to set up and use Eye Control just follow the below steps:
- You need to purchase a Tobii Eye Tracker 4C
- Download and update to Tobii’s Core eye tracking hot fix release 2.10.11.6458 and run calibration with your own profile
- Check for Windows Updates; the new Tobii Eye Tracker HIDClass Driver should be found on Windows Update and installed automatically.
- Make sure your Tobii eye tracker is connected to your PC and turn on Eye Control by going to Settings > Ease of Access > Other Options > Eye control.
Once the device is set up and activated, a launchpad will appear on the screen allowing users to access the mouse, keyboard, text-to-speech and other tasks one could previously accomplish with a physical mouse and keyboard.
Other improvements made in the Windows 10 Insider Preview is, Microsoft Edge receives a refreshed and more modern look inspired by the Fluent Design System. Address bar design is also modified and other issues fixed.
