MIUI 12.5 is Official With Super Wallpapers, Light UI and More

Soon after announcing the Xiaomi Mi 11 flagship phone, Xiaomi has now officially announced the MIUI 12.5, the very latest iteration of its popular ROM. As its numbering suggests, it is an update that does not bring major visual changes. It focuses on improving performance, the user experience, and the polishing of the system.

The MIUI 12.5 also refines the use of vibration to return more natural touch feedback. Xiaomi then insisted a lot on the improvements related to privacy and the first concerns the clipboard: all the apps that can read the contents of the clipboard and have access to the recordings are shown. MIUI 12.5 enables the sandbox mechanism and keeps each album separate, in addition, there are additional protections in the browser and in the Xiaomi App Store and beyond.

However, Xiaomi has not failed to introduce new interesting functions. The MIUI 12.5 marks, for example, a clear step forward in the discourse of collaboration between mobile devices and computers: the user can view and manage smartphone notifications directly from the connected PC, can also open screenshots and web pages, and so on.

New Sounds

As for the system sounds, Xiaomi has worked to make them more natural and for this, they’ve collaborated with international sound artists. According to Xiaomi, the sounds used cover habitats such as the South American rainforest, Australia, the Arctic Circle, and the East African grasslands. There are sounds from over 120 creatures that can be mixed and matched. All system sounds have been created to perform best on smartphones with dual speakers.

MIUI Plus

Similar to Microsoft’s Your Phone feature on Windows, Xiaomi brings with MIUI 12.5 MIUI Plus, a feature that integrates the brand’s phones with computers. With it, it will be possible to see notifications, run apps on the desktop, copy and paste text between platforms, immediate access to screenshots and files, which can be edited and synchronized, and much more.

Super Wallpapers

There are new system animations and a new super wallpaper of a suggestive snowy mountain (this is the summit of Siguniang Mountain in Sichuan), with lights, shadows, and clouds that are rendered in real-time and change over the arc 24 hours. Among the other locations included in the new Super Wallpaper Earth, we also find the Navagio beach in Greece and Blade’s Edge Mountain in Italy.

Notes App With a Mind Map and More

Another feature of MIUI 12.5 is the native notes app. In addition to gaining a new icon, the application is given the possibility to create indented lists that can be expanded or collapsed, as well as transposed into a mind map. Other than that, on-call artists will also be able to draw and create doodles with ease using a wide range of drawing and painting tools.
