At its Semi truck launch, Tesla unveiled something new that’ll likely cause Porsche and Ferrari to break a sweat, a new Roadster. The Tesla Roadster which has got record-setting acceleration, range and performance. It’s touted to be the world’s fastest production car ever made.
As per the official stats, the next-gen Tesla Roadster can grab 0 to 60 mph speed in just 1.9 seconds and 0 to 100 in 4.2 seconds. It can handle a quarter mile in 8.9 seconds and holds the top speed above 250 mph. Elon Musk said that this is the base model. There is also a Founders Series Roadsters which are limited to the first 1,000 reservations.
With 200kwh battery, it’ll be faster than that jet over there, Musk hinted, but refused to confirm the top speed which is “above 250 mph.” With a pair of three motors, one in the front and two in the rear, it offers all-wheel drive and houses glass roof.
As far as the registration and availability of the new Tesla Roadster is concerned, the base price is $200,000 and it can be booked for $50,000. The Founders Series Roadsters can be reserved for $250,000 and its base price is $250,000. Both models will be available in 2020.
