Display
The highlight of the iPhone X is the edge-to-edge OLED display, which is also one of the major differences in iPhone X and iPhone 8. Much like the Essential Phone‘s full display and Samsung Galaxy Note‘s infinity display. the edge-to-edge display removes the bezels from top, bottom and from the sides.
The iPhone X features 5.8-inch Super Retina HD display which is the largest among three, iPhone 8 Plus comes with 5.5-inch Retina HD Multi‑Touch display with IPS technology and the iPhone 8 also has the Retina HD Multi‑Touch display but with the smaller screen of 4.7-inches.
Camera
All three phones come with a 12MP camera equipped with Quad-LED True Tone flash with Slow Sync. iPhone 8, 8 Plus come with a single lens and optical image stabilization but the iPhone X comes with a new dual-lens and dual optical image stabilization (OIS). iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus features optical zoom; digital zoom up to 10x, while the iPhone 8 has only digital zoom up to 5x.
The X has become the second smartphone in the industry to have OIS in both lenses after the Galaxy Note 8 which also has OIS in both dual cameras.
Talking about the front camera, the X sports a 7MP TrueDepth camera, the 8 and 8 Plus come with 7MP FaceTime HD cameras.
Security
Both the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus comes with a traditional Home button with built-in second-generation fingerprint sensor (Touch ID), while the X is secured with facial recognition technology, also called Face ID in Apple’s term. Face ID uses the TrueDepth camera to recognize the face to perform certain actions like unlocking the device and making digital payments.
Apple claims it to be more secure than Touch ID and says, “there is just a 1 in 1 million chance that another person will be able to unlock your phone using Face ID.”
Home Button
The iPhone X has no physical Home button, rather you can swipe up from the bottom of the display to get Home. Eliminating the Home button gives more real estate for videos and apps. However, you’ll find the classic Home button on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
Chipset and Battery
All new iPhones are powered by Apple’s new A11 Bionic chip which is more powerful than A10 chip. The processor is coupled with company’s own neural engine and M11 motion coprocessor. Apple says the A11 has been designed keeping in mind the augmented reality, facial recognition, and graphics-intensive gaming.
For the battery, this is the first time Apple has introduced wireless charging (works with Qi chargers3). Each of the new iPhones come with a built-in rechargeable lithium‑ion battery rated to deliver up to 21 hours of talk time (wireless), up to 12 hours of internet use, however, the iPhone 8 Plus offers 13 hours.
Another interesting feature is, like Android’s fast charging, Apple has also introduced fast-charging technology which gives 50% of a charge in about 30 minutes.
Price
Finally the main point, the iPhone X starts at $999 for the 64 GB model and 256 GB variant will cost around $1,149. The 64 GB model of iPhone 8 start at $699 and $849 for 256 GB. Finally, the 8 Plus to cost $799 64 GB of storage and $949 for 256 GB.
